ANNOUNCEMENT - Due to the current situation regarding the coronavirus (Covid-19) we are limiting some services to ensure the safety of our staff and customers. We will not be processing garage applications or letting garages until further notice. Please do not contact us with any queries relating to letting a new garage.
Leeds City Council owns over 5,000 garages and plot sites across the city which can be rented and used to store cars, vans or motorcycles. They can also be used for storage or other activity by arrangement with your Housing Officer before your tenancy commences.
If you’re struggling to park in your street or near your workplace, you can apply to rent a garage from us. Both council tenants and non-tenants can apply.
Council garages cannot be used to repair vehicles or run a business.
Please complete the registration form here.
You will retain your date of registration if you have an existing garage application on our waiting list.
It is £8.42 per week for council tenants and £8.42 plus VAT per week for non-council tenants.
Council tenants - please be aware that insurance for your rented garage is not included in the tenants’ insurance scheme.
All applicants join a waiting list. Garages are allocated from the waiting list based on the following criteria:

The tenant or the council can give notice to end the garage tenancy at any time. We are able to give notice to a garage tenant without reason, and a court order is not needed to gain possession of a garage.

You can give notice by completing and signing a garage termination notice form. It is your responsibility to clear the garage of any belongings or rubbish.
